The Basics of Dabbing Concentrates

What is dabbing?

Dabbing refers to smoking cannabis extracts from cannabis plants that are concentrated. The extracts originate from any plant part that includes stems, leaves, or any other substance which is not removed before smoking. The exact method to extract the oil from the plant typically requires a solvent such as propane or butane and should be left to experts for a secure and high-quality product. It is not recommended to anyone who isn’t proficient in extracting oils on their own as the consequences of injuries could be fatal.

Which are the more frequent concentration types?

Different extraction methods will produce different forms of concentrate. Mechanical separation can produce products that are made up of dry sift, rosin, or dry sift. Also, chemical solvents like butane could create “shatter”, “budder”, “sap”, or “crumble” depending on the temperature and pressure used during the process. These are commonly called butane hash oils, also called BHOs. These oils with high concentrations will have more THC which means they produce more potent effects than normal smoking sessions. It’s similar to drinking whisky instead of drinking beer. The alcohol content of whisky is less than that of beer whisky. This means that it doesn’t require the equivalent amount of whisky to experience the same effects as you would drink a bottle of beer. Like whisky, you don’t require a large amount of a concentrated drink to experience similar effects to smoking. In excess, it may trigger negative reactions. Therefore, it is suggested that the user begins with a small amount to get a better understanding of how concentration affects the user.

How do I know the best way do you apply the dab?

Dabbing requires some quality dab rig parts before starting. It’s typically comprised of “the “nail”, a dome, and a mouthpiece. If you already have a water pipe, you might be able to swap off the attachments and make an Adobe rig. (For further information about pipe designs, go here. )The nail is equipped with an end that has a cup that is used to hold the concentrate when it is in the process of vaporizing. This dome has been designed to collect the vapors, and funnel them toward the mouthpiece. Additionally, you’ll need an oven-sized cooking torch to make the nail warmer.

After you have placed your tools in a secure location and have decided on the type of concentrate you want to use to heat, you can make the nail hot by using your torch until it gets hot. If the nail’s material is glass or titanium the high temperature could cause burning or cracking of the concentrate. It is crucial not to overheat the device.

Quartz is less susceptible to overheating but it could also cool down quickly and prevent concentration from burning. When your nail is hot and you want to apply the concentrate to the nail with a dabber or other small tool.

If your nail is covered with domes, it is necessary to place the dome on top of the nail quickly to ensure that the vapors don’t escape into the air. Certain electronic nails have an option to heat, which means it’s not necessary to torch them. They will also draw the gases inside the rig leaving out the requirement for a dome. Once the vapors are in the mouthpiece, relax and then take a moment to take in the experience. It is important to let the rig cool completely including the nail and dome before dismantling it to wash.
